wow.  i cannot believe it, but this is going to be my last post on this blog!  i will make an entry with the link to my new site when it goes live & cannot wait to share the new look of smitten photography with you!  this blog has been a place for me to share not only my work... but my heart, my passion, my joy & some of the great life surprises that have come my way.

thank you for being a part of this creative journey with smitten photography!  it brings me so much joy to share life with my clients - to see the greatest moments, the biggest kisses, the sweetest hugs, the melt-to-the-ground laughter, and the joyful tears - all the emotions that i love to watch through the lens of my camera.  

i'm excited for the new year & the clients who i will have the joy of capturing life for!  until we meet again, here is the longest post ever of an unbelievably yummy engagement session {the first of two!} with the most adorable couple who's wedding i'll be shooting in tennessee, next year!  hope you enjoy these favorites of amber & taylor and check back like crazy until the new link is posted :)

while catherine & bill were in town from alabama we met up at the lake to shoot their engagement photos!  it was cold & raining but it sure didn't stop the love from flowing :)

love in the afternoon...

caroline & chris are getting married in charlotte this august & i had SOOOO much fun with them yesterday in uptown for their engaged&inlove photo shoot!!
they had a great time laughing & teasing each other which made for some of my most favorite shots! thanks caroline & chris for such a memorable afternoon & i can't wait for the wedding! i am running out the door for a wedding in tennessee this weekend, so i don't have time to comment on the pics...but, of course, i love all of these favorites :) enjoy...

tennessee lovin'...

this is such a special post for me in so many ways but the main reason is because i have known molly since she was 14 years old!! i have watched her grow up & develop into this AMAZING woman who loves jesus & those around her with all of her heart. she is one of the most genuine people i know. her smile is constant, her laugh is contagious and she is an incredible listener and friend. i had the honor of being her young life leader when she was in high school and we have remained great friends since then!
oh yeah...she's marrying a pretty cool guy named drew. he's awesome too :)
i will be shooting their wedding in 32 days {molly has the countdown on days} in tennessee & i couldn't be more excited!! my daughter, elle, is going to be their flower girl & is wearing the cutest dress of all time, so prepare for some stellar photos of their wedding festivities :)

smitten love story couple

meet MEGAN & EJ

i am so excited to officially introduce megan & ej...they drove in from tennessee so we could shoot their engagement photos last night in uptown charlotte! their wedding in june will be in the mountains of NC, so they thought it would be fun to do something opposite for this shoot. we had so much fun & it was awesome to see how in love megan & ej are...and also to get to work with them before the wedding. chemistry is such an important part of photography. if you don't feel comfortable with your photographer, then you can't relax and have fun. its fun to be goofy...and at the same time let my clients feel like celebrities for a couple hours :)

megan & ej have one of the most important characteristics in their relationship that i believe is key to a happy marriage: laughter. megan says they are best friends & that they just love being around eachother. with that already in place, i know they are going to love being married & sharing every day together as husband & wife.

emily + jonathan

tonight, i shot jonathan and emilys engagement photos. they are getting married on november 17 & they could not be MORE excited to become husband and wife! they have known each other for a really long time and one day discovered that they both had "i want to be more than friends" feelings. they had a long distance courtship while jonathan was living in korea and emily was finishing nursing school.
jonathan completely surprised emily and flew home to propose to her at the davidson college library where she was supposed to be meeting a friend! {i love a well thought out and executed surprise!!}

i will be so honored to be there on the day they get married!! here are some of my favorites:

when kelli and i had our first conversation about her wedding, i thought right away that we were going to click.
tonight, i shot kelli and charlies engagement photos. now, i think we REALLY click :)
they were SO much fun!!! i love having couples who are passionately in love with each other in front of my camera. we shared several moments of laughter that had me shaking too much to click the shutter! i am photographing their wedding in charlotte in 4 few weeks. to find a location for the engagement shoot, i asked kelli to email me some details about their relationship and some things that are really special to them, this is what she wrote:

sara + travis

the minute i met sara & travis, we clicked.

they were fun & in love and excited to talk about their dreams for their wedding day. i thought it was so sweet the way travis watched sara as she described the details of her plans. she was beaming & it was obvious to me that this day was very important to them.

when we talked about shooting engagement photos, sara jumped at the sound of a "dressy" shoot in the north davidson arts district. we were so obviously out of place tonight, but somehow, it worked...wonderfully!

we had so much fun doing this shoot that i simply can't wait until their march wedding in asheville!

jess & todd engagement

i had the pleasure of shooting a really fun couple tonight...& boy did the lord give us a sky to remember! it was pretty overcast until late afternoon when the sun peeked out from beneath the clouds. jess and todd are getting married in july & i have known them for a few years. it is so fun to photograph couples that i know outside of work! we started out in downtown huntersville for a more edgy look & then moved to a field right around sunset. i hope you enjoy my favorites! :)
